China Coast Guard spokesman on Philippines’ latest intrusion to Ren’ai Reef

2024-03-05 12:33:00

On March 5, the Philippines reneged on its commitment and deliberately sent 2 coast guard vessels and 2 supply vessels to intrude into the waters adjacent to Ren’ai Reef of China’s Nansha Islands, and intended to deliver materials to the illegally “grounded” warship. China Coast Guard took strict regulatory actions to curtail the Philippine vessels’ intrusion, but made special arrangements for one Philippine vessel carrying necessities of life. The response of China Coast Guard is in accordance with legal protocols and based on professional procedures. During this process, despite numerous warnings, the Philippine Coast Guard 4407 violated the collision regulation with unprofessional and hazardous approach, and purposefully engaged in a mild collision with China Coast Guard 21555 that was proceeding on its course in a normal manner. The Philippines side must bear full responsibility. The Philippines broke promises, provoked with extortion tactics, sensationalized the story, and keeps sabotaging the peace and stability of South China Sea. China Coast Guard remains on high alert, ready to firmly respond to any provocative actions at any time, and determined to safeguard national sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
